The GBI is asking for the public’s help in identifying a body that was found in Banks County in February.

A skeleton was found in a wooded area near Highway 59 in Commerce, one mile south of Exit 154 on I-85, on Feb. 5, officials said in a statement.

Investigators believe the body belongs to a Hispanic or African-American woman who was about 30 to 44 years old. The woman most likely died up to four years ago, forensic examinations suggest.

A metal ring and butterfly necklace charm were found with the remains.

Anyone with information is asked to call the GBI or Banks County Sheriff’s Office.
