GBI, Jackson County authorities investigate death of teen
The GBI, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and Jefferson Police Department are investigating the death of a 16-year-old girl.
About 9:43 p.m. Wednesday, Jackson County Emergency Medical Services responded to a call for service at 1127 Winder Hwy., Jackson County Sheriff Janis Mangum said Thursday.
Cheyanne N. Hair, 16, was taken to the Athens Regional Medical Center, where she died. Authorities are trying to determine the circumstances that led to her death, Mangum said.
Hair’s body is en route to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta, where an autopsy will be performed.
No other details were released Thursday.
