The Georgia Bureau of Investigation closed the Moore's Ford lynching investigation on Monday, officially ending an the effort to bring to justice members of the white mob who shot and killed two black couples in 1946.

No one was ever charged or prosecuted in a case that has become known as America’s last mass lynching. The FBI investigated the case for months in 1946, but a federal grand jury failed to charge anyone.
