An Atlanta firefighter is in critical condition after a crash involving him and an armored truck as he was driving home following his shift.

Police told Channel 2 action News the firefighter was driving his personal vehicle when he was involved in a crash with an armored truck on Marietta Boulevard.

His fellow firefighters were the first ones on the scene. Crews had to cut him out of his vehicle.

There were three other injuries. Two people in the back cage of the armored vehicle, as well as the driver were transported to the hospital.

Officials say the firefighter has been on the force for less than a year.
