A Florida man was arrested last week after allegedly shoving his girlfriend to the ground during a dispute about the Trump impeachment hearings.

Ernest Ford, 62, and his girlfriend of several years were involved in a verbal argument about the impeachment hearings Dec. 6, according to a police report obtained by The Smoking Gun. Ford's 60-year-old girlfriend said in the midst of the argument he retreated to the back of their Sarasota home, and when the woman approached him the "altercation became physical."

Ford, who is 5 feet, 10 inches and 272 pounds, grabbed his girlfriend by the shoulders and pushed her to the ground, according to the criminal complaint. The victim got some scrapes on her knee as a result of the altercation, according to the police report.

Ford was later arrested at the couple’s home, a mobile home community for those 55 and older. Ford was booked in the Manatee County Jail on a misdemeanor battery charge. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond.
