A 76-year-old man is facing criminal charges after pushing his wife when she found out he was roaming a dating website and accused him of cheating, according to an arrest report.

Edward Aronson of Lake Worth was arrested at Bethesda Hospital West early Sunday morning. A Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputy was called to the hospital after a nurse said she overheard Aronson say he pushed his wife Sylvia Aronson.

Sylvia Aronson, 77, told the deputy she found her husband looking at a dating website and was very upset with him. The couple argued and after becoming increasingly upset, she slapped her husband on the left side of his face, according to an arrest report.

“After 33 years of marriage, I cannot believe it,” the deputy recalled Sylvia Aronson saying.

Edward Aronson responded by pushing her and she fell to the ground. Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews were called to the Aronsons’ home and transported Sylvia Aronson to Bethesda.

Deputies say Edward Aronson admitted to pushing his wife and admitted that he was slapped.

Dr. Brian Berman told the deputy the fall broke Sylvia Aronson’s right hip, the report says.

The nurse told the deputy she heard Edward Aronson talking on the phone and said to the person, “She accused me of cheating and was yelling at me so I pushed her.”

While looking at her husband with fear, the nurse described, Sylvia Aronson was also on the phone and told the person on the other end not to come to the hospital because it would make things “much worse.”

The nurse said while Sylvia Aronson was looking at her husband, he was angrily glaring back at her. He then ordered the nurse to get ice for his swollen face.

Edward Aronson faces charges of battery on a person 65 years or older and aggravated battery on a person 65 years or older. He was released from the Palm Beach County Jail on Sunday after posting a $5,000 bond, records show.
