Police are investigating the fatal shooting of Miami Senior High School football coach Corey Smith, according to several reports.

Smith was reportedly killed by gunfire at his home in the 2100 block of NW 97th Street, with several gunshots being reported by neighbors about 9:30 a.m. Monday, according to the Miami Herald. He was head coach for Miami High one season, which ended in a loss in the regional playoffs.

Smith was married and graduated from the same school where he had been head coach. He also graduated from Bethune-Cookman University.

Well-known rapper and Florida native Luther Campbell said he had spoken to Smith just two days ago. Campbell is now football coach at Miami Edison High School.
