First Lady, others emphasize reading with Suwanee pre-k visit

Georgia First Lady Sandra Deal joins Brooks Coleman, state House Education Committee, R-Duluth, and Bobby Cagle, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, on Friday. The three will be reading to Georgia’s pre-k students at Discovery Point, 930 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Suwanee. The program begins at 9 a.m. and is being held as part of The Week of the Young Child™, an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). “It is important for children to learn proper pronunciation, expression, pauses and cadence,” Deal said. “It is my hope that these visits encourage our children to read to others and become young teachers themselves.”
