Fayetteville authorities were searching for three suspects involved in the holdup of a local Walmart late Thursday, two of them armed.
Police said two men waited inside the Fayetteville Walmart around 11:13 p.m. as employees were removing cash from registers. The two approached the employees with what appeared to be revolvers drawn after pulling gray bandanas over their faces, police said. The suspects then took a shopping cart that contained a cash box and fled.
After leaving the store, the men put the shopping cart in the back of a tan Toyota Tacoma pickup, which police later determined had been stolen from Henry County.
The driver of the Tacoma then drove off with the two suspects, police said. The truck was found abandoned two hours later, and the cash box empty, at a Clayton County apartment complex.
Despite their disguises, the two suspects inside the Walmart were described as slim, light-skinned black males in their early 20s. One was wearing a gray North Face hooded sweatshirt and the other a black Nike hooded sweatshirt. Both also wore black gloves. No description was given for the driver of the getaway truck.
