If you checked Facebook this morning to see what your friends and family were up to this past weekend, you may have been out of luck. Facebook faced widespread and major technical issues including users' inability to post new status updates.

Users who tried to update their status early Monday were greeted with the message, "There was a problem updating your status. Please try again in a few minutes."

The ability to 'Like' posts and photos as well as uploading photos to an account was also affected.
