When the members of the state ethics commission reconvene Monday morning it will be to determine whether Holly LaBerge will continue as executive secretary.
In three year as chief of the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission, LaBerge has administered an office in near constant chaos. Dismissed employees filed — and won — millions in whistleblower lawsuits, scores of ethics complaints went untouched for nearly a year, and the commission’s already dubious reputation as a watchdog for clean government fell farther and farther.
Perhaps the final blow was dealt Wednesday when Fulton County Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville called LaBerge “dishonest and non-transparent” in an order sanctioning her and the Attorney General’s office $10,000 each. Friday morning, LaBerge was placed on administrative leave with pay pending a final decision from the commissioners.
