Police have not released the man's name. There were no children on the bus at the time, KATV reported.

The incident happened around 2 p.m. in West Little Rock. Investigators said they believe the driver got out of the bus to inspect it when the vehicle started to roll, as it was parked on a hill, KARK reported.

Little Rock police said they believe the bus moved because it somehow flipped gears, the television station reported. The man chased after the bus but was killed when he became trapped under the vehicle, police said.

"Incredibly rare," Pulaski County Special School District spokeswoman Jessica Duff told KARK. "You don't hear about these kinds of accidents, especially in the manner of which everything occurred."
