The Georgia Department of Transportation will join other employers at a career fair for veterans from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Thursday at the Georgia Dome in downtown Atlanta. More than 600 veterans currently or soon-to-be seeking public or private sector employment are expected to attend the career fair. It is sponsored by the veterans’ job assistance organization RecruitMilitary, the U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs and the Georgia Governor’s Office of Workforce Development. “There are more than 100,000 military personnel stationed in our state, and thousands more Georgians serving in our armed forces at other locations, many of them abroad and in harm’s way,” Georgia DOT Commissioner Keith Golden said. “We thank them all for their service and are proud to be able help those who are transitioning back to civilian life.”
