Dobbins Chapel moved to new site

1/6
The sun rises Sunday as workers prepare to move the Dobbins Chapel from its former home on the Dobbins Air Reserve Base to its new home at the Clay National Guard Center in Marietta. The chapel was built in 1942 and sent to and used by a fighter group in Germany, and was relocated to Goldsboro, N.C., at the end of World War II. It was delivered to Dobbins in 1949, where it has been ever since. A road that will cross the chapel's now-former site made the move necessary. An anonymous donor paid $8,000 to move it. The Dobbins Chapel Foundation group needs $50,000 more to bring the building, after relocation, up to military code.
