Fulton County Schools announced Friday it has reached sale agreements with all residential property owners for a new West Roswell elementary school along Ga. 9, just south of Holcomb Bridge Road.

District officials said they have not been able to strike deals with all commercial property owners at the proposed site. The school board will consider whether to use eminent domain to acquire the remaining parcels, chiefly along Ga. 9, at its Aug. 22 meeting.

For months, residents in the nearby Charles Place neighborhood of Roswell have been speculating about the school placement, concerned about whether they will receive a fair price for their homes.

David Knotts, director of land management for the district, said homeowners and renters will have 60 days after closing later this month to vacate. He said the district included a relocation stipend for renters in the purchase price, although it will be up to landlords to pass that along.

The proposed school, scheduled to open in fall 2015, will include approximately 54 classrooms and house some 850 students in grades K-5.
