The GBI is investigating after a Forsyth County deputy shot and killed a man who threatened him with a knife late Sunday, a sheriff’s official said.

Deputies were called just after 11:20 p.m. to the Shady Grove RV Park in the 5500 block of Shady Grove Road near Cumming, Forsyth sheriff Cpl. Peter Sabella said.

A 911 caller said a man in her RV was suicidal, the sheriff’s office said.

"When deputies arrived at the recreational vehicle,” Sabella said, “they were confronted by a male subject armed with a knife.”

The man, later identified as Jason Aldridge, 44, began “to threaten the deputies with the knife,” and “one of the deputies was forced to fire his agency-issued sidearm striking the subject,” Sabella said.

The deputies involved in the incident were placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
