A DeKalb County 17-year-old has been arrested and charged for allegedly shooting his friend in the face.

Jacob Christmas is being charged with aggravated assault and is in police custody in connection with the shooting of a 15-year-old boy, police said.

The 15-year-old is in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital, police said.

“There had been an ongoing dispute between the two,” DeKalb County Police Capt. Steven Fore told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “It finally came to a head.”

Around 2:30 a.m., police were called to the home on Hillcrest Drive where Christmas and the victim were among a number of teens in the house, police said

“Apparently, the suspect and victim know each other very well, and it’s not uncommon for Jacob to be at the victim’s home,” Fore said.

Christmas had been at the home late Thursday night or early Friday morning and left.

“The suspect returned to the home, walked in and shot the victim,” Fore said.

Police say there were as many as four teens inside the home when the shooting took place.

No one else was injured, authorities said.

Two adults and a 7-year-old also were inside the home, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
