DeKalb arts center will offer free classes to kids, teens in 2021
An arts school in Dunwoody hopes children can try out a new hobby next year.
The Spruill Center for the Arts will offer free art classes for children and teenagers, ages 5 through 19, beginning January 2021. The only cost to parents is a registration fee of up to $20.
The school said it’s able to offer the classes for free due to two “generous donations” from the Belle and Louise Cofer Fund and the Tomlinson Memorial Foundation, according to a news release.
“At a time when it’s most needed, we are thrilled to be able to offer these in-person classes for our community’s youth and hope that their collective spirit of creativity will continue to uplift us all in the coming months,” Alan Mothner, CEO of the Spruill Center for the Arts, said in the release.
The school, located at 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, reopened in June following the coronavirus shutdown. Before it reopened its doors, the school hosted a series of free, virtual art classes and demonstrations on its social media channels.
Air purification systems were installed in every classroom, and the school requires students to wear face masks and social distance.
