“Dark money,” spending by a nonprofit social-welfare organization that does not have to disclose its donors tried to convince voters to re-elect Cobb Commission chairman Tim Lee this year with direct mail like this. Challenger Mike Boyce still defeated Lee with 64-percent of the vote. This mailer was funded by the independent political committee Cobb First, which received $143,000 in dark money donations from the social-welfare group Revitalize America Fund.
