A 61-year-old Forsyth County man died after being struck by a van on Canton Highway.

Johnie Baker of Cumming was near the Cherokee County line Saturday morning when he walked in front of an oncoming Ford E-250 van, according to Sgt. Phil Alexander of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said there was no evidence of drug or alcohol impairment by either party involved.

The van’s driver, Victor Martinez of Jasper, stopped and tried to help, authorities said.
