You’ll want to pull out that jacket on the way out the door Wednesday morning, but you won’t need it all day.

It’s going to be a cool and dry day for a change in metro Atlanta, with temperatures in the low 40s and even the 30s in some parts of North Georgia ahead of daybreak. A light breeze is coming in from the North helping to cool things down, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said.

The high today will top out around 67 degrees as the day goes on, just a few degrees below the average high of 69 for this time of year, she said.

Skies will be clear with no rain in the forecast, “so once the sun does come up, we’re going to see a lot of it, and it’s going to be bright and beautiful as we go through the day,” Deon said.

Temperatures cool back down this evening, with an overnight low of 42 in Atlanta and even colder in northern parts of the metro area.

No rain is in the forecast today or Thursday, which is welcomed after some areas received several inches of rain over the last few days. In Troup County, where a preliminarily rated EF3 tornado struck the West Point area, up to 10 inches of rain fell.

Rain returns to the forecast on Friday with a 30% chance of isolated showers. Saturday will see more rain, with a 70% chance of morning thunderstorms.

Five-day forecast for March 29, 2023.
