A man wanted in connection with multiple violent crimes, including two homicides, was arrested late last month in Atlanta.

Body camera footage released Monday of the Oct. 29 arrest shows the moment officers pulled into a Citgo gas station along Fairburn Road to attempt to arrest Jadarius Carr, who took off running and prompted a short chase, police said.

The 24-year-old remains in the Fulton County jail and is facing 18 charges, including two counts of murder for separate incidents in East Point and Atlanta in October, three counts of aggravated assault in DeKalb and Fulton counties, four counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony, obstruction of law enforcement, possession of a gun by a convicted felon, and other drug offenses.

On Oct. 2, Atlanta police responded to an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Steele Avenue and found two men shot, an incident report states. One of the victims, Clinton Odu, was shot in the chest, back and forearm, according to the report. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died. Several dollar bills, credit cards, debit cards and drugs were found on the victim at the hospital, the report reveals, but authorities have not said what prompted the shooting.

The day before, East Point police said they were called to a Motel 6 along Virginia Avenue and found 22-year-old Nathaniel Johnson face down and unresponsive in a hallway. Several witnesses told police they saw the victim fighting with another man before shots were fired.

Carr was connected to the East Point incident soon after, an incident report shows. A warrant was issued for his involvement in the Atlanta shooting on Oct. 19, police said.

On Sept. 7, DeKalb police had responded to the 3100 block of Moreland Avenue regarding a domestic call. The victim was found suffering from multiple injuries after being choked by Carr, police said. No other details were released.

Before Carr was arrested, authorities said his car was spotted by Atlanta police on Fairburn Road and a traffic stop was attempted. That’s when he pulled into the gas station and ran off, police said. Officers were able to catch up and repeatedly told Carr to “get on the ground” while he told officers he had not done anything, body camera footage shows.

“This is illegal,” Carr yelled. “I haven’t done nothing.”

Carr was detained at The Doctor’s Memorial Park, just a few yards away from the Citgo, and a firearm and multiple cellphones were recovered from his possession, according to police.

The Atlanta man has been arrested at least seven times and convicted of several charges in the past few years.

In Fulton, Carr was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute in October 2021, according to online records.

Fulton court records show that in September 2020, he was treated as a first offender for charges of obstruction of a law enforcement officer, possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was also treated as a first offender for charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in July 2018.
