Man, dog dead after fiery crash on I-285 in DeKalb County

A fiery crash I-285 northbound near U.S. 78 occurred early Saturday morning leaving a man and his dog dead, officials said.

A FedEx tractor-trailer driver and his dog died after the truck went off-road and hit a tree around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, DeKalb County fire spokesman Capt. Jaeson Daniels said.

The truck burst into flames as a result. Crews put out the fire and began extensive cleanup due to the contents of the truck.

The cause of the crash and the identity of the truck driver have not been released at this time.
