A South Fulton officer accidentally shot himself while qualifying for mandated yearly training, the department said.

A South Fulton police officer accidentally shot himself in the leg while holstering his gun at a shooting range Tuesday, the department confirmed.
The officer was qualifying for the yearly mandated course for state certification, spokesperson Capt. Derrick Rogers said. The officer was taken to a hospital with an injury that was not life-threatening, Rogers said.
