Police are asking the public for help in locating a suspect in a September homicide in Houston, Texas, who is believed to be hiding in Atlanta.

Steven Lamar Jones, 28, is accused of stabbing 28-year-old Clarence Logan multiple times in the parking lot of a Courtyard by Marriott near George Bush Intercontinental Airport just after midnight Sept. 9, according to Houston police. Logan was rushed to a hospital, but efforts to save his life were unsuccessful.

An arrest warrant was filed for Jones just over two weeks later. He faces a charge of murder.

Both Logan and Jones are from Atlanta, and Logan is believed to have fled to the area after the incident, Atlanta police said.

According to court documents obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Jones and Logan had traveled to Texas from Atlanta together. The men had been arguing over money, with Logan allegedly owing Jones $500. At the time, Logan had a bag with $20,000 to $30,000 inside, investigators discovered after talking with Logan’s family and reviewing social media and text messages. No money bags were found at the scene, court records stated.

Security footage showed Jones holding a box cutter, but it didn’t capture the stabbing, according to court documents. Afterward, Jones and another man allegedly drove to a Greyhound bus station in downtown Houston, where they bought tickets to Atlanta.

According to investigators, Jones allegedly confessed to the stabbing when confronted by Logan’s friend, saying he was “tweaking out” and did not know the box cutter was in his hand, court records state.

Anyone with information on Jones’ whereabouts or the case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or online at www.StopCrimeAtl.org. In Houston, tipsters may call the Houston police homicide division at 713-308-3600 or Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
