Two weeks after a man was gunned down in DeKalb County, authorities released photos of the suspects Saturday.

James Dean, 47, was standing at a MARTA bus stop in the 3100 block of Glenwood Road on Feb. 17 talking to someone on his phone, police said. As soon as he got off the phone, officials said two men began to approach him at about 12:30 a.m.

Authorities said one suspect put a gun to Dean’s face, so he began to run away. As he was fleeing, police said a suspect began firing, striking Dean from behind. He fell in the parking lot and died at the scene.

“The two male suspects then went through his pockets, possibly taking his wallet and personal gun before running off,” DeKalb police said.

Surveillance photos of the suspects released Saturday show a man wearing all black and another wearing an orange jacket. Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.

According to a GoFundMe campaign created by Dean’s cousin, Kyonna Jones, to raise funds for his funeral, he was at the MARTA stop to grab a bus to go home.

“These boys should be off the streets because if they did this to him, they would do this to anyone,” Jones said.

A visitation is set for noon to 8 p.m. Friday, and the funeral is scheduled for March 11 at 3 p.m. Both will be held at Gregory B. Levett & Sons Funeral Home.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact DeKalb police at 770-724-7850.
