Georgia NAACP President Gerald Griggs issued a statement shortly after the decision was made not to charge the two Atlanta police officers involved in the shooting death of Rayshard Brooks.

Griggs said the case needs to be presented to a Fulton County grand jury so citizens can make a decision on whether to charge the officers.

“As the Georgia NAACP, we take civil rights very serious and 2020 changed the conversation on social justice, therefore the citizens should determine what police accountability looks like. We stand with the community and the family of Rayshard Brooks in demanding justice,” Griggs said.
