Grasping a razor blade, a 24-year-old woman eyed a stranger who had just kindly held open a Gwinnett County gas station’s glass entrance door for her Sunday night, authorities said.

She walked behind the 36-year-old man as he approached an employee behind the counter, then allegedly slashed a deep cut into the side of his face in what Gwinnett police called an unprovoked attack.

On Wednesday morning, authorities requested the public’s help in locating Keareah Mercedes Harris. A few hours later, police announced that the Decatur woman had been arrested.

“(She) was taken into custody overnight and incarcerated at the Gwinnett County Jail,” police said Wednesday afternoon.

The Gwinnett sheriff’s office told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Harris was arrested by Fulton County deputies and was booked into the Gwinnett jail. Her bond was set at $1,850, according to online records.

Officers responded around 11:10 p.m. Sunday to a Shell gas station on Jimmy Carter Boulevard near Norcross after the victim’s wife called 911. He was bleeding and had to be taken to a hospital, police said.

According to an incident report, the victim and his wife had just finished eating dinner with his family when they stopped to get fuel prior to a trip back to Augusta.

The attack was captured on surveillance footage and the employee told police that Harris appeared to brush her hand across the victim’s face, which started to bleed, the report stated.

After he was stabbed, the man went to his car, where his wife immediately called authorities after getting a glimpse of his injuries, according to the report.

She then saw the suspect enter a blue Chrysler 300, which had been parked behind them, and drive away toward Oakbrook Parkway, police said. Surveillance footage captured Harris walking to that vehicle and sitting inside for about 30 seconds prior to leaving, according to the report.

Authorities said a Flock system flagged the Chrysler and determined it was registered to Harris. Arrest warrants were then obtained for aggravated assault and battery.
