Rescue crews were called to a five-car pileup on I-20 after one person became trapped inside a vehicle Tuesday night.

The crash happened in the westbound lanes near the Windsor Street exit shortly before 8:30 p.m., fire department officials said on Twitter. It shut down the interstate west of the Downtown Connector for more than an hour.

By 9:45 p.m., the closures were contained to the right lanes of the interstate, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

The conditions of those involved in the crash were not immediately clear. Neither were the details surrounding the pileup.
