A teenager was arrested Tuesday in the fatal shooting of another teen at a DeKalb County gas station in January, officials said.
Quavion Hale, 18, is facing charges of murder and armed robbery in the incident at a Shell station along Snapfinger Woods Drive. The sheriff’s office said Hale was taken into custody without incident and remains in the DeKalb jail without bond.
On Jan. 10, Akhir Muhammad was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds shortly before 6 p.m., DeKalb police spokesman Lt. Shane Smith previously said. The 17-year-old had just walked out of the gas station when he was shot, Smith confirmed. Hale and another suspect are accused of then running away.
Authorities have not said what the suspects took from the victim or if the shooting was targeted.
A day after the incident, police released images of gas station surveillance footage showing two people they identified as suspects. Both were carrying distinctive backpacks, one of which appeared to have a light pink canvas with black trim. The other was black and white with dashes of hot pink that could either be part of the design or zipper ties.
The sheriff’s office confirmed that the second suspect remains at large.
