Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta turned up the heat Wednesday to help capture the killer of a Cobb County hair stylist in Decatur.

The crime-fighting tip organization announced it is trying to raise a special $20,000 reward for information to help solve the Karen Pearce killing. It typically pays out an average of $1,600 for information to solve a homicide from its own funds according to its website.

The fundraiser had brought in just under $700 as of mid-day Wednesday.

Pearce, 44, was shot dead in downtown Decatur Saturday night. Police have been searching for a motive for the killing of the Smyrna woman and are asking for help in identifying any suspects.

Investigators ask anyone with information to contact the Decatur Police Department at 404-373-6551 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS. Tips can be submitted online at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org.
