A property owner found Bridget Felicia Parker dead in an empty Fitzgerald mobile home in May 1996.

GBI detectives exhausted every lead, but no evidence or witnesses linked anyone to the case — until now.

Authorities arrested Octavious Alexander Rivera, 49, in Parker’s murder Thursday, GBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Todd Crosby confirmed in a news release. Parker was 27.

The GBI reopened the case in May 2016, conducting a full review of the case file and resubmitting evidence to the GBI Crime Lab.

Crosby said advancements in technology led to new evidence and leads.

Detectives interviewed multiple witnesses in Ben Hill County, Florida and Missouri until they led them to Rivera.

Rivera was taken to the Tift County Jail, where he is being held until he is transferred to Ben Hill County jail.

Crosby said the GBI plans to investigate case and continue with more interviews in the coming weeks.
