Carroll County investigators are still working to learn the circumstances that led to an 83-year-old woman’s shooting death Saturday night.
The woman was found dead at her home in the 1900 block of Burwell-Mt. Zion Road, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. Her name has not been released.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in that area Saturday to call 911. Investigators believe the woman was shot sometime between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., the agency said in a news release.
“Even tips that seem insignificant can prove to be helpful no matter how small,” sheriff’s spokeswoman Investigator Ashley Hulsey said. “We also wish to advise the public to be vigilant and aware of their surroundings and contact 911 to report any suspicious activity.”
Hulsey said no other information about the case would be released, citing a pending autopsy and ongoing investigation.
