A 9-year-old girl who nearly drowned in a Macon pool after jumping in to try to save her father is expected to be released from the hospital soon, authorities said.
Both the girl, London Anthony, and her father, 42-year-old Roger Dewayne Anthony, were pulled from the water by witnesses, but Anthony died later Saturday at a hospital, AJC.com previously reported. The incident took place at the Arbor Apartment Homes off Northside Drive.

Bibb County Deputy Christopher Collis performed CPR on the girl until she was able to breath again, and she was taken to Navicent Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
The child’s mother thanked the deputy in a social media post, which said, “He said she was fighting hard and didn’t give up, so he was not going to give up on her.”
The sheriff’s office shared her post on Facebook, praising the deputy’s actions.
The post also said she’s expected to be released from the hospital soon, but it’s unclear which day she’s expected to be cleared to leave.
