Investigators are trying to determine what led to a double shooting at a Henry County apartment complex that left a 19-year-old woman dead and a man critically injured, a McDonough police spokesman said.

Bath Hector of McDonough was fatally shot at the Estates at McDonough Monday afternoon, Maj. Kyle Helgerson said Thursday. Trevin Joseph, 46, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

The shooting occurred about 3:30 p.m. behind the 300 building at the complex. The apartment is in the 600 block of Nail Road.

Joseph lives there, police said. Hector does not.

Police originally said the shooting occurred after a robbery attempt.

Now police aren’t sure about that.

“But investigators have not completely ruled it out,” Helgerson said.

New developments, he said, indicate that the incident was “not stranger violence, as was previously reported.

“This was not a random act of violence.”

No arrests have been made.
