A 13-year-old girl was shot and killed by her older boyfriend Friday evening, Savannah police said.

Jeremiah Seaton, 16, arrived at the department’s central precinct about 8:40 p.m. and told officers that he shot his girlfriend on Seminole Street, police said in a Facebook post.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the body of a 13-year-old girl who had been shot multiple times, authorities said.

Police determined that Seaton left the area after shooting his girlfriend and later turned himself in at the station, authorities said.

He was taken into custody and charged with murder.

The girl’s name has not been released and it’s unclear what led to the shooting. Police said their investigation is ongoing.
