Woodstock police are searching for shoplifting suspects who struck an officer with their vehicle during a Tuesday night getaway.

The incident began with a theft at the Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta, Woodstock police said in a Facebook post. When officers arrived, they found the suspects inside a vehicle in the parking lot.

However, the suspects tried to hit an officer with their vehicle as they fled the scene, leaving the officer with minor injuries, the post said.

This prompted a chase on I-75 that lasted until the vehicle entered Marietta. The chase was then called off.

The suspects have not been identified by police, and they will face aggravated assault and shoplifting charges when caught, the post said. The department added that other charges are also possible.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Woodstock police at 770-592-6000.
