A 40-year-old woman was shot and killed Friday night in DeKalb County after she and her husband met people to buy a cellphone, police said.

The incident happened at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Woodcrest Walk, according to police.

The couple found the phone on an internet application, police said.

The couple met the people in the parking lot, and the husband became suspicious of the potential sellers’ intentions, police said.

One of the people demanded the victims’ phones, and someone then pulled a gun and shot the woman, according to police.

The man, who is 40 years old, drove to the front of the apartments, where police found them. The woman died at a hospital.

The couple did not live at the apartment complex. No identities were released.
