A woman is dead and another is in custody after an argument led to gunfire near legendary strip club Magic City in southwest Atlanta.

Candace Morgan, 35, is facing a murder charge in connection with the deadly shooting of her girlfriend, 43-year-old Therese Bradley Horton, authorities said.

Morgan and Horton were sitting together in a car outside the club on Forsyth Street early Sunday morning, Atlanta police spokesman Sgt. John Chafee said. They argued, and at some point Morgan pulled out a gun and allegedly shot Horton.

Horton got out of the car and tried to run away, but Morgan followed her and shot her again, according to police.

The club’s security guards arrived shortly after the shooting and “detained the suspect until police arrived,” Chafee said. Officers at the scene found Horton with gunshot wounds to the back and arm. She was dead at the scene.

Morgan was booked into the Fulton County jail, where she is being held Monday without bond.
