Authorities are searching for a North Georgia woman they say shot her boyfriend, dropped him off at a hospital and left the area, according to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office.

Crystal LeAnn Carter, 37, has been on the run since Saturday evening, when deputies allege she dropped off William Craig Henderson at Chatuge Regional Hospital in Hiawassee, Towns County Sheriff Chris Clinton said in a post on his Facebook page.

Henderson had a bullet wound to his chest. He was later flown to a “medical facility with a trauma center,” where he remains in stable condition, according to the post.

“Upon dropping off the victim at Chatuge Regional Hospital, Carter drove away in the victim’s Chevrolet Tahoe,” Clinton said. The SUV was found abandoned in the parking lot of a Marathon gas station on I-75 North in Hiawassee.

Officials determined Carter drove away in her red Ford pickup truck, which was found Sunday afternoon at a home in Clay County, N.C. Carter’s whereabouts are still unknown.

She is considered armed and dangerous. Carter faces one count of criminal attempt to commit murder and one count of aggravated assault.

Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call the Towns County 911 line or the Towns County Sheriff’s Office at 706-896-4444.
