A Cherokee County woman died Wednesday afternoon after driving off I-575, striking a guardrail and ending up down an embankment, according to police.

The single-vehicle crash happened just before 3:30 p.m. on I-575 northbound near the Marble Quarry Road overpass, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said. When Holly Springs officers arrived, they found a Mitsubishi Eclipse down an embankment.

Felicia Michiaels, 47, died at the scene, Sgt. Marianne Kelley with the sheriff’s office said.

The Holly Springs Police Department requested the sheriff’s office assist with the investigation. The cause of the crash has not been determined.
