An Athens woman was killed Thursday after she was ejected from her car just before it crashed into a guardrail, police said.
About 2 p.m., Quatilia Wilson, 23, was driving her Nissan Altima southbound near the Mitchell Bridge Road overpass when she suddenly switched lanes in front of a Kia Sedona, Athens-Clarke County police spokesman Epifanio Rodriguez said in a statement.
Wilson’s car continued across the right shoulder, striking the guardrail, police said.
“After hitting the guardrail, the Altima came back across the path of the Sedona, striking its rear driver's side quarter panel,” Rodriguez said.
Evidence at the scene revealed Wilson’s door came open, causing her to be ejected from the car.
She was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival.
