A woman who brought a toddler to a bar in Iowa ended up getting arrested after becoming belligerent and fleeing with the child, police said.

Mary Jane Carpenter, 25, was at Miss V's Honky Tonk Island Bar in Des Moines with her 2-year-old daughter Wednesday afternoon, according to KCCI.  Police were called after Carpenter, who witnesses said was wearing a bikini top and jean shorts, became irate, screamed profanities and slammed down her drink after the bartender told her to watch her child.

Carpenter fled the bar with the child, but eventually abandoned the child in the stroller at an intersection. Police found a water bottle that they said was partially filled with vodka in the stroller.

Carpenter eventually returned to the stroller where she was arrested. Police performed a breath test, and Carpenter registered a 0.183 blood alcohol level. Carpenter struck a cop in the face after temporarily escaping her handcuffs, according to the police report.

She was charged with child endangerment, intoxication and assault on a peace officer, and was being held in county jail pending bail of $3,000, according to KCCI.
