WATCH: Woman jumps through car window to scare off would-be thieves in College Park

Channel 2's Alyssa Hyman reports.

While pumping gas, police recommend to keep your car doors locked to prevent someone from opening one while you aren’t looking and stealing your stuff.

These are commonly referred to as “slider” crimes, and a woman in College Park told Channel 2 Action News she was nearly the victim of one Sunday night.

However, she went to great lengths to scare off her would-be thieves, and the encounter was captured on video.

Princess, who asked Channel 2 to only use her first name, said she was at the Texaco gas station off Roosevelt Highway when something made her suspicious.

The video obtained by the news station shows a blue sedan pull up next to her Mercedes while she’s pumping gas. She quickly realized what was happening.

“As soon as I see his door crack, I was already jumping in my car,” Princess said.

A man seen on the video reaching for her driver’s-side door handle immediately turned around and ran back to the sedan, which quickly drove off.

“I didn’t have a chance to think. All I was thinking was he’s not about to take my stuff,” she said. “It was mind-blowing. I just couldn’t believe he was doing this while I’m standing here.”

She told Channel 2 she called police to report the incident. It’s unclear whether police are pursuing charges.
