Two suspects are wanted after breaking into a home and shooting a dog.

A home security camera captured the moments two men wearing hoodies approached a South Fulton house and gingerly tried to open the door.

After finding out it was locked, the duo grew more aggressive and took turns kicking the door until it opened. The footage stops there, but police say the violence doesn’t.

The men shot the homeowner’s Yorkie before leaving the house empty-handed, South Fulton police spokesman Jubal Rogers told AJC.com. The department released the video on the incident, which took place about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at a house off Polar Fox Court.

Several shell casings were found inside the home, and the dog, whose name is Starla, was shot in the right front leg and the right rear leg, according to a police incident report. The dog’s 20-year-old owner was inside the home before the burglary and was alerted to the two thieves by a security alert on her cellphone.

When the two men kicked in her door, she ran out of the garage and away from the house, the report said. After shooting Starla, the two followed the woman and yelled at her to turn around, which she ignored.

The dog survived the incident, and no one else was injured.

The two suspects left the scene in a dark-colored sedan, Rogers said.
