A Marietta man is accused of raping a woman several times and stepping on her neck, causing significant nerve and spinal cord damage, authorities said.

Elijah Wilson, 54, was arrested Friday on multiple felony charges stemming from the incident, which took place at a motel last month, according to Marietta police arrest warrants. The rape and violence allegedly lasted from 10 p.m. Dec. 23 until 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Wilson and the woman were at the Metro Extended Stay at 184 Freys Gin Road during the alleged attack. Wilson raped, sodomized and stomped on the victim on multiple occasions, the warrants said.

He’s accused of stepping on her neck until she could not breathe, which required surgery and emergency medical attention. In addition to nerve and spinal cord damage, she suffered musculoskeletal damage to her neck.

Due to the nerve damage, the woman temporarily lost the use of her arms and legs, which persisted for several days after the incident and surgery, the warrants said. She also suffered bruises and swelling from being punched, hit with a belt and dropped on the ground during the alleged attack.

Wilson was charged with rape, aggravated assault (strangulation), aggravated battery, aggravated sodomy, sexual battery and misdemeanor battery, Cobb County jail records show. He remains in jail without bond.
