If a metro Atlanta man wants to get out of a North Carolina jail, he’s going to have to produce more than an identity card issued by a Mexican consulate.

Jose De Jesus Garcia, 39, of Norcross, needs to come up with $1 million and show “positive proof of identity,” a magistrate said.

According to The News & Observer in Raleigh, Wake County sheriff’s deputies stopped Garcia on Monday and arrested him on two cocaine trafficking charges.

At the time of his arrest, Garcia had no state-issued ID, just the card issued by the Mexican consulate, the newspaper reported. He was booked in the county jail.

A judge set Garcia’s bail at $1 million and said he would have to produce a valid ID to be released, according to The News & Observer.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials sent authorities a notice saying they want to take Garcia into custody, the newspaper reported.
