‘We want justice’: Hit-and-run victim’s mother begs driver to surrender

The family of a man killed during a hit-and-run in College Park on Friday is asking the community to search for the vehicle and person responsible.
Dawn Wilson, the mother of 30-year-old Douglas King Jr., told Channel 2 Action News she is desperate for justice to be served.
“You took away a precious person, and we want justice for him,” she said.

King was trying to cross Roosevelt Highway early Friday on a red bicycle when he was hit by the driver, College Park police previously told AJC.com. He was biking home after going to a store, Wilson said.
Police told Channel 2 they believe the vehicle was a 2009 to 2015 Lincoln MKX SUV or a 2009 to 2012 Lincoln MKS sedan. The vehicle will likely have a damaged front bumper and possible windshield damage, police said.

Police are checking surveillance cameras in the area to try to spot the vehicle leaving the scene.
Wilson said she doesn’t have any animosity toward whoever killed her son, but she wants closure.

“This person can be forgiven. You know we’re that family. We can forgive, because it’s not for us to judge,” Wilson said. “But we won’t rest until we know that the person that did this is found.”
Anyone with information is asked to call College Park police at 404-761-3131.
