A driver suspected of grand theft auto led Los Angeles police on a slow-speed chase, appearing to talk to bystanders, handing them things or possibly high-fiving them along the way. (Source: KTLA.com)
The pursuit started shortly before 2 p.m. and involved a bright green Toyota Prius taxicab. The chase sped up about 90 minutes later after an armored police SUV began following the Prius.
The incident ended after several PIT maneuvers that left the Prius pinned between three armored police vehicles and a SWAT unit.
At that point, the driver got out of the Prius and lay down, surrendering to police. He was handcuffed and put into a police vehicle.
