A man was found shot to death Thursday night  just blocks from a Cobb County elementary school, police said.

Someone discovered the body along Austell Road at Dorothy Drive, police Sgt. Dana Pierce said Friday in a news release. That is close to Milford Elementary School near Marietta.

The man was on the sidewalk near the intersection, dead from a gunshot wound, Pierce said. The victim is believed to be about 50 years old.

No one has been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting.

The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office has taken custody of the body and is expected to determine the manner and cause of death, according to police.
